Man, I’m pooped.  More on that later, though.

I just realized I never did a wrap-up post for last week.  Oops.  Or post my planned workouts for this week.  Double oops.  I’m not even going to bother posting what was my plan for this week, because I totally didn’t follow it.  Anyways, here’s what I’ve done the past two weeks:

  • 6/8: 60min swimming
  • 6/9: 30min biking (speed) + 20min weights
  • 6/10: 45min elliptical
  • 6/11: 30min pool running + 30min swimming
  • 6/12: Rest
  • 6/13: 30min pool running + 30min swimming
  • 6/14: 104min bike (22.17 miles)–I ended up in the middle of NOWHERE with no water…it was fun, though!
  • 6/15: 30min run(!!!)/walk + 30min elliptical
  • 6/16: 30min biking (speed) + 20min weights
  • 6/17: Rest–got out of work late and had to head to a cookout…it happens
  • 6/18: 30min run/walk + 30min elliptical
  • 6/19: Casual biking at Relay for Life…more to come on that

Yes, I ran for the first time in three months!  I behaved myself and stuck to the treadmill and ran for no longer than 5 minutes at a time.  So far so good…knock on wood.

I’m supposed to do some pool running and swimming today, but I’m whooped and the weather’s gross.  It might be another rest day.

The reason why I’m so exhausted today is because I was at the Relay for Life until late last night.  Relay runs from 7PM until 7AM (because cancer never sleeps) and the goal is to have at least one person per team walking around a track all night.  Last year, my friend Terry, who is the leader of a running group I belong to called TRY (short for Tuesday Recreational Yogging) came up with the idea of having a running team for Relay.  Here’s Terry:

We had a blast last year and decided to do it again this year.  Since I’m still technically out of running commission, I brought my bike and camera and served as official cheerleader/photographer.  We enjoyed cheering each other on…

…and, of course, hanging out with friends…

By a little after 9PM, the mosquitoes were getting to me.  Being that I was unprepared and forgot to bring a pair of pants, the only way I could get any respite from them was to stand over a citronella candle.

Since I was getting eaten alive and Mark was staying all night, I came home around 9 to walk the dog and sleep.  I went back early this morning with Ike bearing gifts of donuts and coffee.  After a night with no sleep, I think everyone was starting to get a little loopy…

At 6:58AM, all the remaining runners jumped for the final lap to finish it off.  I followed on my bike.

I thought I would be feeling sorry for myself because I couldn’t run with my friends, but honestly, I was just having such a fun time hanging out and fighting cancer in one of the few small ways I can.

So, my husband is still in bed (I shouldn’t say “still”…he did only go to bed 2.5 hours ago) and it’s pouring outside.  I’m exhausted myself after being up late and then getting up early.  It sounds like a good day for a book, the couch, and a cup of tea.

Enjoy your day!
